The club was started in 2009 with the idea to get more local young people playing badminton. Being based at Knottingley High School the club is ideally set up to help young players develop their skills and progress into the senior club. Coaching sessions were set up alongside the senior club to ensure progressive opportunities for all people within the area. Both the coaching sessions and senior club have gone from strength to strength with a number of new members who had never played badminton before now playing regularly and enjoying developing new skills.

The Mens team play in the Leeds and District League and during their first season gained promotion and won the Anchor cup showing the depth and prospects of the club. Last season the Anchor Trophy was retained with a tight win against Spartans who managed to narrowly steal the league top spot and prevent the team doing the double.

This season the club has expanded and now has a mixed team in Division 3 in the Leeds League and also a mixed team in Division 3 in the Barnsley League. A main aim of the new teams is to give the developing players the opportunity to play competitive matches, although promotion is still a realistic target for all teams.
